If you receive a fake job offer, report it as soon as possible and preserve all evidence. Save the job advertisement, WhatsApp or email messages, phone numbers, payment receipts, bank/UPI transaction details, screenshots, and website or social-media links connected with the fraud.
In India, you can:
Report financial cyber fraud immediately if you have transferred money by calling 1930.
File a cybercrime complaint online through the Government of India’s National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
Inform your bank or payment service provider immediately if money was transferred, so they can take appropriate action.
Report the fake job advertisement or account to the website, social-media platform, or job portal where you found it.
Contact your local police station and provide all available evidence if necessary.
Do not pay additional fees to the fraudster or share OTPs, passwords, Aadhaar/PAN details, or banking credentials. Acting quickly can improve the chances of stopping or recovering a fraudulent transaction.
