{"id":10014,"date":"2020-09-18T10:36:51","date_gmt":"2020-09-18T10:36:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wakilsahab.in\/news\/?p=10014"},"modified":"2020-09-18T10:36:51","modified_gmt":"2020-09-18T10:36:51","slug":"tamil-nadu-govt-to-push-for-stricter-punishment-for-crimes-against-women-and-children","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wakilsahab.in\/news\/tamil-nadu-govt-to-push-for-stricter-punishment-for-crimes-against-women-and-children\/","title":{"rendered":"Tamil Nadu govt to push for stricter punishment for crimes against women and children"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>source:-newindianexpress<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, in the assembly session on Wednesday, announced that steps would be taken for stricter punishment for crimes against women and children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the announcement, with the central government&#8217;s concurrence, steps would be taken to make the following amendments to Crimes against Women under the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (IPC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under section 304 B, the minimum sentence of seven years awarded for dowry deaths will be increased to ten years of imprisonment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similarly, under section 354 B (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe), the existing provisions for minimum imprisonment of three years will be raised to a minimum of five years and a maximum of seven, the announcement under rule 110 said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further, repeated offences under section 354 D (stalking), may be awarded a maximum imprisonment of seven years instead of five years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under section 372 (Selling minors for the purposes of prostitution etc) and section 373 (Buying minors for purposes of prostitution etc), a minimum of seven years imprisonment and a maximum of life imprisonment will be recommended to the Centre, the announcement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further, several initiatives by &#8216;Amma&#8217;s government&#8217;, including the TN police&#8217;s Crimes against Women and Children unit that has been operating since March 6 last year and Amma patrol vehicles to deter<br>crimes against women and children and create awareness against use of drugs among children and child marriage, are already in place, the announcement said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fb-background-color\">\n\t\t\t  <div \n\t\t\t  \tclass = \"fb-comments\" \n\t\t\t  \tdata-href = \"https:\/\/www.wakilsahab.in\/news\/tamil-nadu-govt-to-push-for-stricter-punishment-for-crimes-against-women-and-children\/\"\n\t\t\t  \tdata-numposts = \"5\"\n\t\t\t  \tdata-lazy = \"true\"\n\t\t\t\tdata-colorscheme = \"light\"\n\t\t\t\tdata-order-by = \"social\"\n\t\t\t\tdata-mobile=true>\n\t\t\t  <\/div><\/div>\n\t\t  <style>\n\t\t    .fb-background-color {\n\t\t\t\tbackground:  !important;\n\t\t\t}\n\t\t\t.fb_iframe_widget_fluid_desktop iframe {\n\t\t\t    width: 100% !important;\n\t\t\t}\n\t\t  <\/style>\n\t\t  ","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>source:-newindianexpress CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, in the assembly session on Wednesday, announced that steps would be taken for stricter punishment for crimes against women and children.
