{"id":11626,"date":"2020-12-21T06:25:05","date_gmt":"2020-12-21T06:25:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wakilsahab.in\/news\/?p=11626"},"modified":"2020-12-21T06:25:05","modified_gmt":"2020-12-21T06:25:05","slug":"trump-campaign-will-again-ask-u-s-high-court-to-upend-election-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wakilsahab.in\/news\/trump-campaign-will-again-ask-u-s-high-court-to-upend-election-results\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump campaign will again ask U.S. high court to upend election results"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Source:-https:\/\/uk.reuters.com<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Reuters) &#8211; President Donald Trump\u2019s campaign said on Sunday it would again ask the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn results from the Nov. 3 election, its latest long-shot effort to subvert the electoral process and sow doubt over the legitimacy of President-elect Joe Biden\u2019s victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a statement issued by the campaign, Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani said the campaign had filed a petition asking the high court to reverse three rulings by a Pennsylvania state court interpreting the state\u2019s rules for mail-in ballots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Campaign\u2019s petition seeks to reverse three decisions which eviscerated the Pennsylvania Legislature\u2019s protections against mail ballot fraud,\u201d Giuliani said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Giuliani said the filing sought all \u201cappropriate remedies,\u201d including an order allowing Pennsylvania\u2019s Republican-controlled legislature to award the state\u2019s 20 electoral votes to Trump. Biden won the state by more than 80,000 votes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The petition is \u201cfrivolous\u201d and is not going to stop Biden from becoming president on Jan. 20, said Joshua Douglas, an election law professor at the University of Kentucky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Court will shut it down quickly,\u201d Douglas said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Supreme Court on Dec. 11 rejected a lawsuit filed by Texas and backed by Trump seeking to throw out voting results in four states, including Pennsylvania, that went for Biden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several senior Republican U.S. senators, including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, have acknowledged Democrat Biden as the country\u2019s president-elect after the Electoral College affirmed his victory, and have rejected the idea of overturning the 2020 presidential election in Congress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A candidate needs 270 Electoral College votes to win the White House.
