{"id":20,"date":"2018-01-24T10:39:51","date_gmt":"2018-01-24T10:39:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wakilsahab.in\/news\/?p=20"},"modified":"2018-01-24T10:39:51","modified_gmt":"2018-01-24T10:39:51","slug":"sc-asks-azam-khan-to-apologise-for-comments-on-rape-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wakilsahab.in\/news\/sc-asks-azam-khan-to-apologise-for-comments-on-rape-case\/","title":{"rendered":"SC asks Azam Khan to apologise for comments on rape case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Source: thehindu<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court on Thursday asked Uttar Pradesh Minister Azam Khan to unconditionally apologise for his controversial remarks about the Bulandshahr gang-rape case.<\/p>\n<p>He had allegedly said that the case was a \u201cpolitical conspiracy\u201d against his ruling Samajwadi Party.<\/p>\n<p>Noting that \u201cwords once spoken cannot be re-called,\u201d a Bench led by Justice Dipak Misra asked Attorney-General Mukul Rohatgi to assist the court on the question of law whether a high functionary, in this case Mr. Khan, could allow himself these comments which potentially create distrust in the minds of victims as regards the fair investigation into the case.<\/p>\n<p>The court added that \u201cif he [Mr. Khan] files an affidavit tendering unconditional apology, the matter ends.\u201d The Bench gave Mr. Khan two weeks to apologise in an affidavit.<\/p>\n<p><strong>School admission<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stating that dignity of women could not be compromised, the Bench directed the State government to ensure that the minor survivor of the gang rape got admission to a nearby central school of the choice of her father.<\/p>\n<p>The cost of admission and education should be met by the State government and the Centre would render the necessary assistance. The Bench said the school would ensure the dignity of the rape survivor.
