{"id":2744,"date":"2018-05-18T06:14:20","date_gmt":"2018-05-18T06:14:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wakilsahab.in\/news\/?p=2744"},"modified":"2018-05-18T06:14:20","modified_gmt":"2018-05-18T06:14:20","slug":"cryptocurrency-no-stay-on-the-rbi-circular-says-the-supreme-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wakilsahab.in\/news\/cryptocurrency-no-stay-on-the-rbi-circular-says-the-supreme-court\/","title":{"rendered":"Cryptocurrency: No Stay On The RBI Circular, Says The Supreme Court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Source &#8211;\u00a0inc42.com<\/p>\n<p>As the cryptocurrency\u00a0firms, enthusiasts and organisations\u00a0like\u00a0IAMAImoved the various courts against the RBI\u00a0circular dated April 6, the Supreme Court of India, upon hearing a related-case, has directed to club all the petitions pending across various courts in this regard.<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court has also\u00a0refused\u00a0to put any stay on the RBI circular, till the matter is under sub judice.<\/p>\n<p>While the next hearing has been scheduled on July 20, hearing the writ petition of Siddharth Dalmia along with other similar petitions filed in the SC, a three-judge bench headed by the CJI ordered that no High Court shall entertain any petition relating to the RBI circular on \u201cProhibition on dealing in Virtual Currencies\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>As reported by<em><strong>\u00a0Inc42<\/strong><\/em>,\u00a0Kali Digital\u00a0and\u00a0Flinstone Technologies\u00a0had earlier approached the Delhi High Court against the RBI circular and the matter was to be heard on May 22.<\/p>\n<p>Another firm Ayushman Foundation had also approached the High Court of Calcutta against the ban. The Supreme Court has now directed the SC Registry to register the mentioned transfer petitions and to issue a notice fixing a returnable date within six weeks.<\/p>\n<p>However, the CJI-headed bench has said that it will hear to all the petitioners that are being linked to this case.<\/p>\n<p>On April 5, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had\u00a0issued\u00a0a statement stating that it will not deal with or provide any service to the entities dealing with any cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin. Releasing a circular on the same on April 6, the central bank had given three months to the banks to settle their businesses with entities and consumers dealing with cryptocurrencies.
