{"id":2818,"date":"2018-06-12T06:09:19","date_gmt":"2018-06-12T06:09:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wakilsahab.in\/news\/?p=2818"},"modified":"2018-06-12T06:09:19","modified_gmt":"2018-06-12T06:09:19","slug":"mumbai-traffic-snarls-submit-report-on-traffic-proposals-in-market-areas-says-bombay-hc-to-cops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wakilsahab.in\/news\/mumbai-traffic-snarls-submit-report-on-traffic-proposals-in-market-areas-says-bombay-hc-to-cops\/","title":{"rendered":"Mumbai Traffic Snarls: \u2018Submit report on traffic proposals in market areas,\u2019 says Bombay HC to cops"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Source &#8211;\u00a0freepressjournal.in<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mumbai:\u00a0<\/strong>The Bombay High Court today directed the city traffic police to submit a report on the steps it proposed to take to ease commuting woes in crowded market areas such as Crawford Market, Bhuleshwar and Zaveri Bazaar in south Mumbai.<\/p>\n<p>A bench of justices Naresh Patil and G S Kulkarni also suggested that the traffic police join hands with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to crack down on the rampant unauthorised parking in such areas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNobody cares about the rights of pedestrians. Just because one has a car, it doesn\u2019t mean one can park it anywhere one likes,\u201d the bench said, while hearing a PIL filed by city resident Rakesh Shukla over traffic congestion in south Mumbai.<\/p>\n<p>The traffic police told the court it had formed a committee, which included an expert from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, to come up with remedial measures.<\/p>\n<p>It also said the Joint Commissioner of Police, Traffic, and the Assistant Commissioner, BMC, had conducted a joint survey of Crawford Market and other such congested areas in the city.<\/p>\n<p>At this, the bench said the committee must hold a meeting at the earliest to come up with remedial proposals and it must submit a report on the same to the court.
