{"id":7229,"date":"2019-10-19T07:22:13","date_gmt":"2019-10-19T07:22:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wakilsahab.in\/news\/?p=7229"},"modified":"2019-10-19T07:22:13","modified_gmt":"2019-10-19T07:22:13","slug":"bombay-high-court-dismisses-tarun-tejpals-plea-to-postpone-rape-case-trial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wakilsahab.in\/news\/bombay-high-court-dismisses-tarun-tejpals-plea-to-postpone-rape-case-trial\/","title":{"rendered":"Bombay High Court dismisses Tarun Tejpal\u2019s plea to postpone rape case trial."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Source &#8211; thehindu.com<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bombay High Court on Friday dismissed a petition by Tehelka magazine founder Tarun Tejpal seeking postponement of trial, scheduled from October 21 to 23, in a sexual assault case lodged against him by a former woman colleague.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tarun Tejpal had moved the High Court against the October 7 order of additional district and sessions court in Mapusa fixing the hearing for cross-examination of the victim for three days starting from October 21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Claiming that his lawyer was busy with another case, the former Tehelka editor had sought dates after December 2. However, his petition was dismissed by the Goa bench of the Bombay High Court. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The victim, a junior colleague of Tarun Tejpal, has\u00a0accused him of sexually assaulting her\u00a0inside a lift at a five-star hotel in Goa during the magazine\u2019s THiNK fest event in 2013. He was arrested by Goa Crime Branch on November 30, 2013, and given bail in May 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In September last year, the district court had framed\u00a0charges of rape and wrongful confinement\u00a0against him.
