New Delhi:<\/strong>\u00a0Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Tuesday said that his organisation would be\u00a0bound by the Supreme Court\u2019s verdict\u00a0on the Ram Temple-Babri Masjid issue in Ayodhya. Bhagwat was speaking at an event organised by India Foundation, where ambassadors and diplomatic officials from about 50 countries were in attendance.\u00a0Union minister of state for civil aviation Jayant Sinha moderated the interaction.<\/p>\n

The Supreme Court is\u00a0set to hold the final hearing\u00a0in the dispute from December 5, a day before\u00a025th anniversary of the Babri masjid demolition.<\/p>\n

According to sources at the meeting, Bhagwat also said that he had \u201cgood contact\u201d with Prime Minister\u00a0Narendra Modi\u00a0and had \u201cindependent discussions\u201d on a range of issues with him.<\/p>\n

Bhagwat also said that his organisation does not believe in trolling on social media. According to a tweet by Prasar Bharati chief A. Surya Prakash, Bhagwat said: \u201cTrolling amounts to hitting below the belt. We don\u2019t support those who display such aggressive nature\u201d.<\/p>\n

A diplomat present at the event\u00a0told the\u00a0Indian Express<\/em>, \u201cWhen asked if he could see a resolution to the Ayodhya dispute by the next elections and whether he would consider it being a shared site, he replied that the Supreme Court would be ruling on the issue and the RSS would be bound by the order.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

In response to questions posed at the event relating to\u00a0the RSS\u2019s role in the government, a tweet by BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav, who is a director at India Foundation, quoted Bhagwat as saying,\u00a0\u201cSangh doesn\u2019t run BJP; BJP doesn\u2019t run Sangh. As\u00a0swayamsevaks<\/em>, we consult and exchange notes but independent in functioning-Bhagwatji to diplomats.\u201d<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Indian Express<\/em>\u00a0report said Bhagwat maintained that the RSS stayed away from politics but the government could be influenced by it as many of the ministers were part of the Sangh.<\/p>\n

According to tweets by\u00a0those who attended the event, Bhagwat said also spoke about\u00a0Hinduism,\u00a0\u201cWith time, we change. When someone says I am a Hindu it is not about religion or how one lives. It is about accepting others as they are. It is not about wearing this, eating this. That imposition is an \u2018ism\u2019. Hinduness is free from this \u2018ism\u2019. Hinduness is the ever changing quality of Hinduism.\u201d<\/p>\n
