{"id":8189,"date":"2019-12-06T07:20:25","date_gmt":"2019-12-06T07:20:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wakilsahab.in\/news\/?p=8189"},"modified":"2019-12-06T07:20:25","modified_gmt":"2019-12-06T07:20:25","slug":"craft-reform-programme-for-troublesome-students-allahabad-hc-to-amu-bhu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wakilsahab.in\/news\/craft-reform-programme-for-troublesome-students-allahabad-hc-to-amu-bhu\/","title":{"rendered":"Craft reform programme for troublesome students: Allahabad HC to AMU, BHU."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Source &#8211; indiatoday.in<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Allahabad High Court has directed Banaras Hindu University and Aligarh Muslim University to come up with a reform and rehabilitation programme\u00a0<strong>for students facing disciplinary action<\/strong>\u00a0for misconduct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The court gave out the directions while quashing the BHU&#8217;s suspension order last year against Anant Narayan Mishra, a student penalised for allegedly assaulting a professor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Justice Ajay Bhanot found the suspension order too severe but made clear that the inquiry against the student &#8211; who is also named in an FIR &#8211; will continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The law shall take its course, unhindered by any observation made in this judgment, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>HC directs HRD Ministry, UGC to support institutions<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In the 67-page order on Monday, Justice Bhanot also directed the Union Human Resource Development Ministry and the University Grants Commission to support the institutions in drafting a reform programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The court said the programme should be created after wide consultations.&nbsp;<strong>The exercise should be completed preferably within six months, but not later than 12 months, it added.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The BHU had acted against the student in March, ordering that he will remain suspended till his acquittal by the court in the criminal case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The court said the indefinite suspension was de facto expulsion from the university, calling it arbitrary and illegal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But it added that it is aware of the concerns of the universities that&nbsp;<strong>a reform programme could derail the administration and have a detrimental effect on discipline.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;A reform and rehabilitation programme is not intended to allow a wrongdoer to escape justice,&#8221; the court said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fb-background-color\">\n\t\t\t  <div \n\t\t\t  \tclass = \"fb-comments\" \n\t\t\t  \tdata-href = \"https:\/\/www.wakilsahab.in\/news\/craft-reform-programme-for-troublesome-students-allahabad-hc-to-amu-bhu\/\"\n\t\t\t  \tdata-numposts = \"5\"\n\t\t\t  \tdata-lazy = \"true\"\n\t\t\t\tdata-colorscheme = \"light\"\n\t\t\t\tdata-order-by = \"social\"\n\t\t\t\tdata-mobile=true>\n\t\t\t  <\/div><\/div>\n\t\t  <style>\n\t\t    .fb-background-color {\n\t\t\t\tbackground:  !important;\n\t\t\t}\n\t\t\t.fb_iframe_widget_fluid_desktop iframe {\n\t\t\t    width: 100% !important;\n\t\t\t}\n\t\t  <\/style>\n\t\t  ","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source &#8211; indiatoday.in The Allahabad High Court has directed Banaras Hindu University and Aligarh Muslim University to come up with a reform and rehabilitation programme\u00a0for students facing disciplinary action\u00a0for misconduct.
