{"id":8739,"date":"2020-01-03T06:46:48","date_gmt":"2020-01-03T06:46:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wakilsahab.in\/news\/?p=8739"},"modified":"2020-01-03T06:46:48","modified_gmt":"2020-01-03T06:46:48","slug":"allahabad-hc-seeks-up-government-reply-on-quashing-fir-against-activist-sadaf-jafar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wakilsahab.in\/news\/allahabad-hc-seeks-up-government-reply-on-quashing-fir-against-activist-sadaf-jafar\/","title":{"rendered":"Allahabad HC seeks UP government reply on quashing FIR against activist Sadaf Jafar."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Source &#8211;  newindianexpress.com<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LUCKNOW: The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court on Thursday asked the state government to file its reply within two weeks on a petition seeking quashing of&nbsp;the FIR filed here against Congress worker Sadaf Jafar for her participation in a protest against the CAA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The court, however, declined to direct the jail authorities to provide better medical facilities to Jafar after additional government advocate S P Singh said the jail authorities were already providing her all possible medical treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A bench of Justice Shabihul Hasnain and Justice Virendra Kumar II passed the order on a writ petition moved on Jafar&#8217;s behalf by her friend Naheed Varma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apart from challenging the FIR and seeking a declaration of her arrest as illegal, the petitioner has demanded that the investigation be conducted by an officer of the rank of Superintendent of Police and under court supervision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The petitioner further demanded that she should be provided hygienic and humane conditions, warm clothes, mattress and bedding in jail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jafar, in the plea, has also sought access to home-cooked food as per provisions of the UP Jail Manual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The court posted the matter for the next hearing after two weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jafar was arrested on December 19, 2019, for protesting here against the amended citizenship law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her bail plea is pending before the District Court after the magisterial court rejected her plea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Hazratganj police booked her under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984 and the Criminal Law (Amendment ) Act, 1932.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fb-background-color\">\n\t\t\t  <div \n\t\t\t  \tclass = \"fb-comments\" \n\t\t\t  \tdata-href = \"https:\/\/www.wakilsahab.in\/news\/allahabad-hc-seeks-up-government-reply-on-quashing-fir-against-activist-sadaf-jafar\/\"\n\t\t\t  \tdata-numposts = \"5\"\n\t\t\t  \tdata-lazy = \"true\"\n\t\t\t\tdata-colorscheme = \"light\"\n\t\t\t\tdata-order-by = \"social\"\n\t\t\t\tdata-mobile=true>\n\t\t\t  <\/div><\/div>\n\t\t  <style>\n\t\t    .fb-background-color {\n\t\t\t\tbackground:  !important;\n\t\t\t}\n\t\t\t.fb_iframe_widget_fluid_desktop iframe {\n\t\t\t    width: 100% !important;\n\t\t\t}\n\t\t  <\/style>\n\t\t  ","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source &#8211; newindianexpress.com LUCKNOW: The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court on Thursday asked the state government to file its reply within two weeks on a petition seeking quashing of&nbsp;the FIR filed here against Congress worker Sadaf Jafar for her participation in a protest against the CAA.
