The Rajasthan government on Friday summoned the budget session without giving a prior notice of 21 days. The Opposition has slammed the state government saying that it called the session to pass the resolution seeking to extend the reservation for SC\/ST for the next 10 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Leader\n of Opposition Gulabchand Kataria said the government hurriedly decided \nto hold the session because the bill to extend reservation to SC and STs\n in Lok Sabha and state assemblies for another 10 years was to be \nratified before January 25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gulabchand Kataria said a notice has to be served 21 days before calling a session so that members can make their preparations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When\n Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra began his address to the assembly on \nFriday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a walkout accusing the \ngovernment of deliberately ignoring the interests of the SC and ST.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, the Opposition attended the house when it reassembled after a brief adjournment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rajasthan\n Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot greeted MLAs from the opposition. His \npredecessor and BJP leader Vasundhara Raje also attended the session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\n Congress government is also expected to pass a resolution against the \nCitizenship (Amedment) Act (CAA) on Saturday before adjourning the \nassembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Moreover, there was delay in the delimitation process of\n Panchyati Raj constituencies because of which the government is not \nbeen able to complete the poll process in all panchayats by February 7 \ndeadline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a major relief to the government, the Supreme Court \nallowed the Rajasthan State Election Commission (SEC) on Friday to hold \n‘panchayat’ polls in the state by April this year.advertisement<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\n Supreme Court had earlier stayed the Rajasthan High Court’s order \ncancelling the notifications reorganising certain ‘gram panchayats’ and \n‘panchayat samitis’ in the state after November 15-16, 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier,\n the Rajasthan High Court had ordered against the delimitation which had\n led to further delay in elections in delimited constituencies. It had \ntermed the delimitation notification of 627 gram ‘panchayats’ in \nRajasthan as “void”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The BJP has been critical of the delimitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile,\n PCC president Sachin Pilot, who holds the department of Panchyati Raj, \nis hopeful that his party would perform well in rural elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The government will now have to decide whether to extend terms of the panchayats or appoint administrators after the deadline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
