{"id":9519,"date":"2020-02-03T06:31:55","date_gmt":"2020-02-03T06:31:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wakilsahab.in\/news\/?p=9519"},"modified":"2020-02-03T06:31:55","modified_gmt":"2020-02-03T06:31:55","slug":"talks-on-with-law-minn-on-legislative-changes-for-lic-listing-fin-sec","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wakilsahab.in\/news\/talks-on-with-law-minn-on-legislative-changes-for-lic-listing-fin-sec\/","title":{"rendered":"Talks on with Law Minn on legislative changes for LIC listing: Fin Sec."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Source:- daijiworld.com<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>(IANS):<\/strong>\n Finance Secretary Rajeev Kumar on Saturday said the Ministry is in \ntalks with the Law Ministry for the legislative changes needed on \naccount of LIC listing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We have started talks with the Law Ministry on the legislative  changes for LIC IPO,&#8221; he said at the post-Budget media interaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We are working on what percentage of listing will be done.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, during her Budget speech on \nSaturday, said that LIC will be listed as part of the government&#8217;s \ndisinvestment initiative. She further said that the listing brings in \nmore financial discipline among the entities. The government proposes to\n sell a part of its holding in LIC through initial public offer, she \nsaid while unveiling Budget 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Parliament had passed the Life Insurance Corporation Act on June \n19, 1956 and LIC was created on September 1, 1956 with the merger of \nmore than 245 insurance companies and provident societies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The largest life insurer in the country with total investment assets \nof Rs 31 lakh crore as on September 30, LIC&#8217;s surplus for 2018-19 \nincreased 9.9 per cent to Rs 532.14 billion. The company paid a dividend\n of Rs 26.11 billion to the government for 2018-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LIC dominates the life insurance sector with a market share of over \n70 pper cent.
