New Delhi:<\/strong> Nirbhaya\u2019s parents urged Tuesday the \nDelhi High Court to expeditiously decide the Centre\u2019s plea challenging \nstay on execution of the four convicts in the case of their daughter\u2019s \ngangrape and murder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Advocate Jitendra Jha, representing the parents of Nirbhaya said he \nmentioned the matter before the court for early disposal of the \ngovernment\u2019s plea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Justice Suresh Kumar Kait, who had February 2 reserved order on the \nCentre\u2019s plea after holding special hearing Saturday and Sunday, said \nthe decision would be passed at the earliest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The trial court January 17 issued black warrants for the second time \nfor the execution of all the four convicts in the case \u2013 Mukesh Kumar \nSingh (32), Pawan Gupta (25), Vinay Kumar Sharma (26) and Akshay Kumar \n(31) \u2013 in Tihar jail at 6.00am February 1. Earlier, January 7, the court\n had fixed January 22 as the hanging date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The court again stayed the execution January 31 as the counsel for \nthree convicts \u2013 Pawan, Vinay and Akshay \u2013 urged it to adjourn the \nmatter \u2018sine die\u2019 as the legal remedies of the convicts were yet to be \nexhausted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n While the mercy pleas of Mukesh and Vinay have been rejected by the \nPresident, Pawan has not yet filed it. Akshay\u2019s mercy plea was filed \nFebruary 1 and is pending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Centre and Delhi government challenged the trial court\u2019s order staying the execution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing them, had contended that\n it was a deliberate and calculated design of the convicts to \u2018frustrate\n mandate of law\u2019 by getting their execution delayed and they were not \nentitled to any more time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The counsel for the convicts opposed the plea. He said it was not \nmaintainable and that the Centre was never a party in the case \nproceedings before the trial court and while the government was accusing\n the convicts of delay, it has woken up only now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nirbhaya, 23-year-old paramedic student, was raped and brutally \nassaulted on the intervening night of December 16-17, 2012 inside a \nmoving bus in south Delhi by six persons, before being thrown out on the\n road. She died December 29, 2012 in Singapore\u2019s Mount Elizabeth \nHospital.<\/p>\n
