HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad high court on Tuesday sought to know from Andhra Pradesh and its transport officials as to how they allowed private motor vehicle showroom owners and dealers to register vehicles in the name of ‘Online Registration’, which was apparently not notified by the state nor was the existing Registration Act amended for the purpose.

The bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Shameem Akhter was dealing with a PIL filed by a Visakhapatnam resident S Om Babu, who questioned the action of the authorities in permitting the vehicle dealers to register vehicles sold by them online.

Petioner’s counsel S Pranathi told the court that authorities are allowing dealers to register vehicles online on an experimental basis in Vizag and dealers have been collecting money far above the prescribed limits as fee. The counsel sought time to respond and was given a week.
