NEET 2017: Student moves High Court over NEET application process

Student from Tamil Nadu has moved the High Court over NEET application process. The Class XII student said that he missed the deadline for submitting application for writing the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). The NEET exam is mandatory for MBBS/BDS admissions, has blamed the delay on confusion over the NEET status in Tamil Nadu. The Madras high court for remedy, P Desiyan of Salem has urged the court to direct the state and central authorities to accept his belated application with fee, so that he could write NEET-2017. Justice N Kirubakaran, before whom the writ petition came up for admission has also issued notice.

The Supreme Court has also made the uniform entrance test mandatory for medical courses, and Tamil Nadu and a few other states were exempted from NEET for admissions in government colleges. The NEET exam will be conducted by CBSE on May 7. The deadline for the NEET  application form is over. Tamil Nadu had also opposed NEET and while the State Assembly adopted two bills which facilitated the continuation of the present system of admitting students to medical colleges on the basis of 12th standard marks.

Earlier also there were protests which included students, who staged a demonstration in front of the office of the Aurangabad divisional commissionerate. They have also protested the exclusion of Urdu as one of the mediums for the national-level exam.
